“A trip to the Emerald Isle has been a dream of mine for years. We decided to hire a driver to show us the territory; “we” being myself and my two grown daughters. The trip was a gift from my children for a memorable birthday. I have to say that this trip was indeed memorable, and much of that was due to Paul Martin and his excellent guidance throughout our tour of Cork. They say that the Irish are super friendly, and Paul exemplifies that big time. His sense of humor is contagious and he kept us laughing for hours. Pick a subject and Paul has a joke to fit the bill. Distances between destinations were sometimes hours, but Paul made them fly by. I kept telling him that he needed to write a book of his jokes and stories, but actually they would lose a lot in the telling without Paul’s delivery. He was exceedingly knowledgeable and took us wherever we wished. We gambled that Mizen Head would be clear enough to warrant a visit, and Paul took us there no matter the weather prediction. It proved to be wonderful, and he joined my daughter’s and I for the trip to the tip. He was always upbeat and treated us like royalty. Even though our flight arrived early, Paul was waiting for us when we came out at arrivals and we were in the car and on our way before we knew it. The car was comfortable and more than big enough for our requirements. When we arrived at our hotel, Paul insisted on taking our bags inside so that we could concentrate on getting the kids out of the car. Overall, I was very impressed with the service and would definitely recommend them to anyone flying into Cork Airport.On an 11-day itinerary, my husband and I hired a rental car to drive between the stops, but then hired a local taxi service for a day or half-day tour of the surrounding area. In Cork, we hit the jackpot with Paul. Paul was our driver and he met us at the cruise terminal for our five hour tour. it was a pleasure being with him as he was able to add wonderful insights into life in Ireland. That kind of one-on-one conversation is just not possible on a coach tour. It was our first visit to Ireland and because of Paul’s enthusiasm, I hope we will return.
I found Cork airport taxi’s to be on time, very friendly, helpful and willing to negotiate with regards to a fixed fare, and if the situation arises, I would use them again.
Our visit to Cork and environs was a great success. Our driver, Paul, proved to be a most convivial host and guide. He took us to the Rock of Cashel, the Head of Kinsale and recommended an excellent restaurant for lunch in Kinsale. He even joined Paul in a wave from the quayside as we approached Cobh in the Queen Mary 2! It was a great day. I am very grateful to Lisa for her efficiency in handling our reservation. I went to stay with friends in Skibbereen and needed a ride from Cork airport, an hour and half’s journey at least. I found Paul and his company on the Net, had an immediate reply concerning fare (excellent value) and a great welcome: „we shall be delighted to take you”. Before taking me back to the airport a few days later Paul rang and warned me about extreme weather conditions and icy roads – we needed to leave earlier, as he wanted to deliver me to the airport in time. Paul insured that we were at Blarney Castle prior to all tour buses…so much so that we had completed an hour on the grounds, including kissing the stone, before there was any more than a handful or people in the entire park. I have used such transfer services extensively both in the UK and Australia, however, I would rate the service which you provided to us in Cork as second to none. Making yourself available at such short notice, including making a return trip to collect the vehicle so that all five of us could be transported and avoid being snowed in was greatly appreciated.
